setting sun

Truly I am shocked and awed by the destruction and anarchy in the city of New Orleans. Of course there is no one to blame. Is this apocalypse?

Is this the apocalypse? ...Yes

If you translate the word apocalypse it means revelation. The socio-political and environmental cues we have seen over the last few years are clearly indicating profound change. With this change comes the need for new understanding, of our relationship with the earth and each other. This is exactly what I expect an apocalypse to be. We are all wading in it, it is an inescapable feeling. A point to remember is, that the horror will be matched by equally intense beauty. A new birth is on the heels of all this death. The birth of new love, a new world, and a new 'us'.

In the art of our photo-mentor. David McMillan, we can see nature taking over where we failed. His art shows the marriage of beauty and horror. Everything eventually finds it's own equalibrium. Imagine what it will take to fix modern corruption (incomprehensible to most).

Absolutely. In the bonfire of our vanities we can be humbled and shown that all the things we dreamed past and future have to be remade.
